WELCOME HOME
We are your home, we are traditional Basque cuisine, we are seasonal products.
SINCE 1960
EARLY YEARS
Since the 60s, Serantes has been part of Bilbao’s history. It all began at what is now the bar of Serantes I, already a legendary gastronomic temple in the city.
80s AND 90s DECADES
We move on to the expansion of the dining room of Serantes I on the upper floor. By the 90s, we expanded our offerings in the Bilbao expansion with the opening of Serantes II.
NEW MILLENNIUM
With Bilbao’s presentation to the world, thanks to the Guggenheim Museum, we expanded our brand with Serantes III; located two minutes’ walk from the museum itself, on Calle Alameda Mazarredo.
Today, Serantes Restaurants are considered some of the best seafood restaurants nationally and are identified as a bastion of traditional Basque cuisine in the center of Bilbao.
Authentic Flavors Straight from the Port
Our philosophy is to offer our diners the best quality fish and seafood from the Bay of Biscay. We are passionate about buying directly from the port; that’s why we visit the most renowned fish markets along the northern coast, from Cedeira to Pasaia, weekly, to bring the finest produce to Serantes.
Much More Than Just a Seafood Restaurant
From a delicious Pasaia sea bream in pil pil sauce to a 60-day aged mature beef chop, and including our star dish “Txangurro al Horno” (oven-baked spider crab); our gastronomic offering primarily identifies us as a restaurant of traditional Basque cuisine.
If you’re looking for something more casual, immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of our bars and heed the Bilbao saying “the best squid rings are still at Serantes.”
